My Blizzle

Just random thoughts from the daily life of a mother, homeschooler, wannabe writer and semi-crazy person... I figure some of these may spawn themselves into actual stories one day... Or, maybe, just give me an outlet for the constant rattling in my head.

Our first week in a new town~

8 month re-cap... lots of fighting, separation, sold our house & agreed to move to a new town 600 miles away & start anew.

Moved from dust, gangs, murders and high housing prices, to the forest and tranquility. Lil' Piece o' Heaven. Only thing missing is my family...

I'm feeling happy, because I know that this is the start of something good. I plan on putting my fingers to the test & writing some great novel or concocting some sort of great artistic type venture that will make me a huge success... Full of ideas.

Our 10 hour trip started off with a bang. Chris was driving the Budget truck. My sister, Stanley [cat], the girls and I passed the high school on the way to The Highway of Death. As we drove out of town, my oldest, Hannah, started complaining that she was hungry. I responded with, "You should have eaten at Grandma's then. We aren't stopping for at least 2 hours so just get comfortable." (Mean, yes, but the child NEVER eats, and then is always complaining that she is hungry at the most inopportune times.)
"Mommy, my tummy feels funny."
"Hannah, please."

Then we hear heaving. The street we were on has the construction cones on the sides so we can't pull over. SPLASH, hurl. My sister & I yell "Oh my God!" and are gagging. I roll down her window so I don't have to clean up 2 piles of puke. HEAVE, sigh SPLURSH, SPLURSH, SPLURSH.

Finally the construction cones end, so I pull over and call Chris & tell him what is happening. When I open the car door to see the damage, I cannot believe how much bile a child as skinny as her can hold. Awful. Luckily I had Clorox wipes, hand-wipes, and for some reason, a roll of paper towels and Febreeze. It was really rancid. So I got her cleaned up, and cleaned up the slime & gave her a Lego bucket & made her hold it.

As soon as we pulled off, she went at it again. It would have been almost funny in a way.. if not for the stench. So we pulled off to a gas station. More puke. She's shaking and looking very pale. I bought her crackers and some Gatorade. She puked a little more, so we stopped after 2 hours. (We had planned on doing 5 one day, and 5 the next.)

Seems she got herself all worked up having to say goodbye to family. So, we stopped & got a hotel.

The next day, we started the day with Chris locking the keys in the rental truck. While he called a locksmith, I snuck Stanley out of the hotel and told him "Lizzie is in the bathroom. I'll be right back to her her. " He nodded and said "Okay." I was so happy with myself for not flipping out over him locking the keys in the truck. I was doing really well, until he comes walking out of the hotel... without Lizzie, and asks "Where's Lizzie?"
"Oh my GOD, Chris..."
"Well, where's the room key?"
"In the hotel... I told you I'd be right back for her!" Sigh, hold breath, stay calm...

So we walked to the hotel lobby & told them we left luggage in the room. They printed us out a key with no questions asked. Kinda scary. So we ran back to the room and got her out. We waited while the short little guys tried to unlock our truck. Took a couple hours. We didnt get going until 330.

We got into our new town about 10 pm, dropped my sister off, and got a hotel in a cute little cabin. Very cute. The heater didn't work, so no shower for the girls.

The next day, we woke up and drove to get our keys for the house. We spent the next 3 days unpacking and moving boxes around so we could steam clean the pet-urine smells out of the carpet. YUCK! The carpet was so dirty, that our socks looked like we walked through mud. Needless to say, I was happy we got the steam cleaner. The linoleum looked awful, until I scrubbed it with Oxi-Clean. Now it looks new. Now, we just have to wait til the landlord fixes the ever-leaking toilet.

Four days into our move, (yesterday) we got a threatening letter from our new neighbors because our furry little daughter [dog], Lizzie, barked & cried while we were gone at the store. They signed it "YOUR NEIGHBORS!!!" (the red, exclaimation points and underlining were thiers)

Guess they aren't ones for understanding. Threatened to call the Pound if they hear her bark again.

So, I got some of my candles & wrote them letters about the anonymous letter i had recieved, and apologized for her barking & leaving a bad impression on our new neighbors. Sigh. I wrote out 5 by hand (can't find the cord to my printer so I can't scan & copy yet... also can't send pictures of our cute little new house to family). The more I wrote, the angrier I got. What a warm welcome to the neighborhood.

I'm still pretty peeved about it, but when I saw one of my neighbors, I had to feel sorrier for her than angry with her. She is about my age, and looks so angry. Life obviously hasn't been that great to her as she lives with a grey skinned woman who I am assuming is her mother. I've seen them a couple times and never have seen a smile. Pretty pathetic. So, I am making it my mission to ignore and be happy I have my life!

As for my girls, they are so happy. Ella can't stop singing and dancing. Hannah is a little more reserved. They love their new room, even though we haven't brought nearly enough shelving for their toys & things...

My parents are on their way up in 2 weeks, so we'll have shelves then.

Just getting used to having to drive 45 minutes for a Target. We kept finding things we needed during our unpacking, so spent the 1st 4 days driving there & back. Sooo tiring ;) It's hard getting used to being a Mountain Mama, instead of living in the city. I have found that when we *buy* our home (we're renting), I will definitely seek out a place where I have no contact with neighbors. That's the only thing I miss about my old house.

Anyway, that has been my life for the past week. Hopefully tomorrow I can post pictures :)
